Update On Chase & Carjackers Ending In East Chicago

Update – Around 12:30 PM Wednesday, two vehicles were being pursued by Chicago PD and Norfolk Railroad Police after these suspects shot at railroad police a few days ago at 49th & Halsted where they were allegedly committing a burglary. The suspect fired a round at an officer going through his drivers seat but not penetrating the officer, sources told RNS. The suspects managed to evade police.

Fast forward to today where both these suspects were spotted near 79th & Lafayette in Chicago. The suspects fled in two cars, a mini van and a silver pick up. During the chase shots were believed to be fired once again at police. Police pursued them both down the Dan Ryan & Bishop Ford till the minivan crashed near Dolton exiting on Sibley. That suspect then jumped out and carjacked a black Jeep and fled back North up the Bishop Ford.

Police stayed with the pick up truck that was involved with the shooting till it crashed in East Chicago, IN on Chicago Ave just East of Bishop Noll. The pick up ran into numerous cars and injured a female who was transported to a local hospital. The suspect was taken into custody on scene by multiple agencies. Two squad cars were visibly damaged, one being a CPD car and the other an ECPD car. At least two other cars were also struck at this location.

One suspect is in custody in East Chicago at this time. No officers are believed to be injured.
