Munster House Fire Sunday

On Sunday around 6:15PM Munster Fire Department was dispatched to 8003 Schreiber for a brush fire that was upgraded to a structure fire within 15 minutes according to radio traffic. On arrival crews were met with flames and heavy black smoke that witnesses reported seeing from Chicago.

Residents were home at the time of the fire and were able to safely evacuate the one story ranch home. Officials confirmed to RNS the fire did start outside Sunday but unknown how from that point. No injuries were reported as of 8PM but crews were still on scene hitting hot spots.

Munster was assisted with Mutual Aid from Lansing, Calumet City, Glenwood, Highland, Lynwood, Griffith, and Third District Fire Chiefs Association Canteen.
